Why Visit

Mutianyu is the most popular section of the Great Wall for international visitors. Fully restored in the 1980s, it offers excellent accessibility with cable cars, a chairlift, and a fun toboggan slide for descent.

The wall here features 22 watchtowers across 2.25 km, with both inner and outer walls — a rare double-layered defense. The dense watchtower spacing reflects the strategic importance of this mountain corridor protecting Beijing’s northeast approach.
